September Round-up
Another busy repair cafe this month 😀 Thank you to everyone who made it another great morning, and we missed those of you who couldn’t make it.
There were 26 volunteers and 42 visitors - (visitor numbers including the Make Do & Mend workshop by Elmbridge Museum).
We looked at 41 jobs in total:
- Fixed 14
- Provided advice or part fixed 19
- Couldn’t fix 3
- Taken home by repairers 5
One additional item (taken home from the last Cafe) has been repaired and returned. In the battle of the electrical items… the number of radios/CD players coming in beat the number of lamps 5 to 4.
You may also have seen information around the Centre about Elmbridge Council’s plans for ‘a new era of community support’ which includes changes to how the Centres for the Community are run (among other things). You can find out more about the proposals via: https://elmbridge.gov.uk/connected-communities
Our latest accounts and annual report have been published on Companies House.
Dates for the diary:
- Saturday 11th October: our next Repair Cafe. Monica Harding, the MP for Esher & Walton is due to visit us.
- Sunday 12th October: we have been asked to take a table at the ‘Thames Ditton and Weston Green Nature and Climate Festival’ 11am-2pm (Vital Village, Thames Ditton).
Our aim will be to promote repairing, give people an idea of whether things can/can’t be fixed (and offer a ‘high level’ triage service if possible) and try to encourage local residents to think about starting their own Repair Cafe (with initial support from us).
- Saturday 8th November: Repair Cafe
