October Round-up

Well… if you were there Saturday you don’t need reminding what a busy day it was! If you couldn’t make it, we missed you and look forward to seeing you again soon.

The numbers ……

We looked at 37 items (… but it felt like more!):

- 20 were fixed

- 1 half-fixed

- 8 couldn’t be fixed

- 5 where advice was given, and

- 3 which are ongoing.

5 repaired items from previous Cafes were returned to their delighted owners.

There were 25 volunteers present, and we had 39 visitors

And… Welcome to new repairer Bernie! 👋

Thank you to Cally, who, although not there, sent some delicious flapjacks. 😋

We received a visit from Esher and Walton MP Monica Harding, who we hope will ask a question in the House of Commons this week about the Right to Repair, and sign the  ‘Repair and Reuse Declaration’ (see below for details). She was incredibly impressed by the work that the Cafe was undertaking, and the commitment of all you wonderful volunteers. Her visit linked neatly with…..

Saturday 18th October - International Repair Cafe Day. You can see what’s going on across the world here: https://openrepair.org/international-repair-day/2025-events/

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Thames Ditton and Weston Green Nature and Climate Festival and helped to both triage and repair a few items, whilst explaining to visitors what we do. There was some interest by local people in starting up their own local Repair Cafe and we will be inviting them to come along to our November Cafe to meet us, and see how we operate.

Talking of which….. our next Cafe will be on Saturday 8th November.

Thank you to all our volunteers for making the Cafe such a warm, welcoming and successful project.
