September 26 Round-up

Thankfully it didn’t rain on the Repair Cafe, as we crowded into temporary premises at St Erconwald’s church hall, and moved the check in/out desks, customer waiting areas (and Joe) into the surrounding car park.

We looked at 31 jobs:
- 15 were fixed;
- 4 couldn’t be fixed;
- 2 were ‘half’ fixed;
- 2 are ‘ongoing’; and
- advice was given on 7 other items (which are likely to lead to future bookings once the necessary parts have been bought)

Two ‘ongoing’ jobs were returned to their owners following the August Cafe.

This month’s ’endurance award’ goes to Alan and Sean for their work on the huge coffee maker (for a local church) - the third and final month of their lengthy adventure. Well done!

We are expecting to return to our usual premises - now known as ‘Walton Community Hub’ - in Manor Road - for our 10th October Cafe.
As many of you will be aware, the Hub is now being managed by ‘Voices of Hope’, a Kingston based charity. Following changes to the layout, and refurbishment of, the building they will be holding a ‘Great Walton Get-Together’ open day there on 29th September between 2pm and 4pm. It would be great if Cafe volunteers could pop along, say ‘hello’ to the Voices of Hope team and take a look at the new space https://voh.org.uk/walton/
