August 26 Round-up
It was great to see so many of you at yesterday’s Cafe - thank you to everyone who made it, and we missed those of you who couldn’t join us (even those of you who were lounging by a pool somewhere)!
There were 27 volunteers and 26 visitors, and we looked at 35 items (although I think most people would agree that it felt like far more… with a non-stop flow of jobs, including some very, very challenging ones….. don’t mention the desk fans!!)
We:
- fixed 18 items;
- provided advice on a further 8 (which may mean the owner buying an identified replacement part, and booking in for a return visit next month);
- we were unable to repair 6 items; and
- 3 are ‘ongoing’
Steve was the bearer of this month’s ‘magic touch’… having just had to switch on a Roberts Radio to get it to work perfectly!
‘Endurance awards’ go to Wendy and Sonia for their valiant work restringing a very long coral necklace, and completing the ongoing repair of an absolutely enormous curtain. (We should have had a ‘guess the number of beads’ competition - have a look at the image below). Here’s what the owner wrote to us afterwards:
“This is the photo of the coral necklace that Wendy painstakingly put back together again and I'm so happy to wear it. Thank Sonia for her painstaking work on my curtain which I'm looking forward to seeing hanging again. 😀 Thank you all for the good work that you do and the kindness you show”

Our next Cafe will be on 12th September - although we are still looking for a venue!!!
