June 26 Round-up

The sun shone, it was International ‘Knit in Public Day’ and we were out in force - with 34 volunteers (including four under the age of 16 and one over 90 🎂) - along with 43 visitors.

We looked at 45 items:
- 22 were repaired
- 2 were half-fixed
- 7 couldn’t be fixed
- we offered advice about 10 items (some which will come back next month to have parts fitted), and
- 4 jobs are on-going
Phew 😮‍💨

We also returned five items that had been repaired since the last Cafe.

As mentioned in the ‘Toolbox Talk’ at the start of the Cafe, we are still looking for a venue for a monthly Wednesday afternoon session, and, for the Saturday cafe, hope to meet with the new managers of the Walton Centre for the Community over the coming weeks (Voices of Hope - working with Walton Charity).

As always, thanks to our repairers for their amazing support of the Cafe. Here are just some of the comments that we have received from very satisfied visitors over the past month:

“Thanks again to you all, today I saw just how much commitment, expertise and warmth all the volunteers at the Repair Cafe bring.  So thank you for such a great community service”.

“Dear all, i just wanted to tell you that my radio is working so well, almost like new. Thank you for your care and hard work, please pass on my thanks”.

“ I’m so grateful to have discovered the Repair Cafe. You are all so wonderful. Thank you again”.

“I was delighted to come again to visit you last Saturday. You are all so welcoming and friendly that it makes it a “joy” occasion for me.What a fantastic service you all give so willingly to the community.. and how fortunate we are to have you. My compliments, appreciation and warmest thanks to you all”.

The next Cafe will be on 11th July.
