January 26 Round-up

What a great start to 2026! It looks as if this year will be as busy and ‘action packed’ as last year…. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us, and we missed those of you who couldn’t make it (camping, sickness, cruising, weddings, taxi-servicing etc etc)

We looked at 42 jobs (including quite a few ‘challenges’ that are ongoing, or where advice was given, and will be re-visiting us next month):

- 24 were fixed

- 4 couldn’t be repaired

- 6 where advice was given, and

- 8 ‘ongoing’

There were 31 volunteers, and 45 visitors!

Thank you to everyone who made cakes/sweet treats.

Our visitors included: Jason, a mechanical engineering student, along with Chris and Peter, both potential volunteers - all of whom got actively involved with the challenges of the dehumidifier and seemingly numerous electric clothes driers…; plus three people from Thames Ditton who are keen to get a Repair Cafe up-and-running there.

Coming up: 14th January: we’ll be having a table at the Elmbridge Volunteer Fair at Walton Centre for the Community between 10am and 1pm. Do drop in and join us if you are in the area (we’ll be promoting the work of the Cafe and volunteering).

Our next Cafe will be Saturday 14th February - join us if you can.

As always, a big thanks to our volunteers for their ongoing support and cheerfulness in making the cafe such a successful and welcoming project.

Boot and bag repairs for the textile team.

Repairs require repairers - repairers require refreshments!
